Our INTRO TO AKT Class is designed for newcomers as it combines our four signature classes: DANCE, BANDS, TONE, and CIRCUIT so you get a great feel for what we’re all about.

Welcome To AKT

A new workout can be intimidating, but we’ll be there to guide you every step of the way. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your first class:



Make sure to arrive 15 minutes before your class start time so you get checked in, take a studio tour, and meet your trainer.



Grab a towel, fill up your water bottle at our FloWater station and place any personal belongings in our custom lockers.



Class starts with a choreographed warm up, followed by a full-body workout featuring our four Signature Class Types: BANDS, CIRCUIT, TONE, and DANCE.



Your first class might be challenging but stick with it! You’ll get the hang of it after 3-4 classes. Sign up for our Badass Loyalty Program to keep track of results, hit milestones and earn exclusive AKT swag!

What is AKT?
AKT is a functional approach to fitness combining dance-based cardio, strength, tone, and circuit training in an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere.
What makes AKT different than other fitness techniques?
AKT is a functional approach to fitness that focuses on full-body movements designed to increase coordination and cardiovascular endurance while building lean muscle. Our rhythm-based classes are a full on party with kick-ass playlists and you’ll leave the studio drenched in sweat and wanting to do it all over again.
Whats the difference between the classes?
We have four signature classes and our Intro to AKT class which is for all newcomers. Our DANCE class is primarily dance based where you’ll party away with short toning intervals with dance cardio choreography. Our BANDS class is rhythm-based and uses our unique resistance bands and AKT box for a full body burnout. TONE uses a light weight, high rep approach designed to burn out targeted muscles and build lean muscle. CIRCUIT is a full-body high intensity workout that includes light weight, body weight, and core focused exercises.
Do I have to be a dancer to participate in AKT classes?
Not at all! While we are a dance cardio focused workout, the classes and choreography are easy to learn, yet difficult to master which makes them accessible for all and challenge even our most advanced members. Additionally, our CIRCUIT and TONE classes contain no real dancing component so AKT really is your one stop shop for all fitness needs.
Do I have to be super in shape to join?
Absolutely not. We pride ourselves on providing an experience that’s accessible to everyone. While certain classes might be more challenging than others, our top tier trainers will encourage you every step of the way and ensure you find the right starting point and plan that will focus on the results you’re looking for.
I’ve never tried AKT before…where should I start?
Each class format offers something different so start where you feel you can get YOUR best experience. DANCE: Party away with full-body toning and dance cardio moves to burn calories and improve coordination. BANDS: Move to the beat while you focus on balance, agility and full-body conditioning using our unique bands and AKT boxes. BANDS & DANCE: The best of both of the above. TONE: Burn out targeted muscle groups that will leave you sore, dripping sweat and wanting more.
What should I wear/bring to my first class?
Please make sure to arrive 15 min early so that we have time to give you a tour and introduce you to your Trainer. Be prepared to move, dance, and get a great sweat! Wear light weight, sweat-wicking apparel. For shoes, cross trainers with good lateral support are best. We have complimentary towel service, alkaline filtered water stations and a retail area with the hottest workout apparel!
What’s the best program/how do I get the best results?
At AKT we take the guess work out of fitness, and give you the tools you need to see and feel results – for life! Most members take 3-5 classes a week, incorporating each of our different classes. Over time clients will see that AKT dance classes raise your cardio-respiratory level, develop long lean muscles and changes the shape of your booty. Not only will you be stronger, but you will also experience improved body awareness, posture and confidence! A great program to follow is one of each of our classes – BANDS, DANCE, CIRCUIT and TONE – each week. Our Unlimited Membership allows you to take advantage of unlimited classes.
How do I get started?

How far in advance do I have to sign up for a class?
AKT classes fill up, so be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time! Cancellation policies vary by studio, so check with your local AKT if you need to cancel a class or session.
Do I have to have a high fitness level to join?
Everyone has a different ability level and is encouraged to work at their own pace. Our dance classes will challenge and improve your stamina, endurance, strength, and flexibility regardless of your current fitness regimen. Our Trainers motivate the class in a positive way, celebrating your achievements and progress along the way!
Can I do AKT when injured?
AKT workouts can be intense so we recommend that all members have clearance from a doctor or physical therapist to train. If you’re looking for something low impact, then TONE is a great option to slowly ease yourself back into things.
Can I do AKT while pregnant?
Yes! With doctor’s approval, several of our members have done AKT dance cardio classes a week prior to giving birth. Labor and parenting require strength, stamina, and energy so training is a great way to prepare yourself for the challenge.
